1995 E. coli O157:H7 Associated with Deer Meat Jerky
Homemade venison jerky was implicated in an outbreak of E.coli O157:H7 in Oregon. The same strain of E.coli O157:H7 was isolated from the people and from the jerky. Deer fecal samples were collected from nearby forest land and E.coli O157:H7 was identified in some of the samples.
