1999 Outbreak of E. coli O157 in Clark County, Washington
A large outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 occurred among visitors to a lake, in a state park, in Clark County, Washington. All cases were children who had swum in the lake. Tests of lake water and sediment samples collected in early September, from the children's swimming area, identified E. coli O157:H7 in the sediment sample that matched the strain that had been isolated from the children.
