2004 Outbreak of Salmonella Bovismorbifans Linked to Sprouters Northwest, Inc. and Sunshine Sprouts Alfalfa Sprouts
Alfalfa sprouts that were sold to various institutional settings in Washington and Oregon were linked to an outbreak of Salmonella Bovismorbificans. Twelve cases were linked to alfalfa sprouts sold by Sprouters Northwest, Inc., and one case was linked to Sunshine Sprouts. The sprouts were manufactured using alfalfa seed lot X3023. The seeds were subsequently recalled by Caudill Seed and Warehouse, Inc., and then by numerous other sprout growers in the United States. Additional cases were identified in the state of Maryland.
