2012 Outbreak of Salmonella Infections Linked to Intercity Packers Beef Burger Meat Mix 80/20, Ontario, Canada

An outbreak of Salmonellosis was associated with eating beef burger meat mix produced by Intercity Packers(East) Ltd (Est. 503). Illnesses were identified in Ottawa and southern Ontario, Canada. As of April 6, the number of cases were not given by the Canadian Food Inspection Service; it is not known when the outbreak began. The meat was sold in 5 kg cases; the chubs inside the cases did not carry a label. The product had been distributed to the public and to commercial food establishments in Ontario and Newfoundland and possibly to retailers in Newfoundland.
