2013 Viral Gastroenteritis Associated with a Catered Boat Cruise, Minnesota

In October 2013 Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Washington County Department of PUblic Health and Environment (WCPHE) investigated an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness among individuals who dined together on October 13 on a catered boat cruise in Stillwater, Minnesota. Two persons reported illness consistent with a viral enteric pathogen. Stool specimens collected from the two cases were negative for bacterial and viral pathogens at the MDH Public Health Laboratory. Inspectors noted minimal deficiencies with the commissary, galley, bar, or bar operations. The outbreak vehicle and source of contamination were not identified.
