2014-2015 Outbreak of Salmonella Muenchen Linked to Pet Crested Geckos
In May 2015 the CDC announced an outbreak of Salmonella Muenchen linked to contact with pet crested geckos purchased from multiple pet stores in different states. As of May 13, 2015 a total of 20 persons infected with the outbreak strain had been reported. Illnesses were reported by 16 states. Illness onsets ranged from January 1, 2014 to March 7, 2015. Three persons had been hospitalized. No deaths were reported.
