2016-2017 Multistate Outbreak of Salmonella Newport

Local, state and federal public health officials and regulatory agencies investigated an outbreak of Salmonella Newport. Dates of illness onsets ranged from August 14, 2018 to July 23, 2017. Fifty-three cases were reported by 17 states. Nine people were hospitalized. One person died. Neither the vehicle or the setting was identified in state and federal National Outbreak Reporting System reports. The outbreak investigation was assigned outbreak code 1703MLJJP-1WGS.
