2016 Good Vibe Tribe Luau - Salmonella I 4, [5], 12:i:- and Kapowsin Pork

On July 3, 2016 Good Vibe Tribe Luau held an event at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle. Foods served included rotisserie roasted pig, parilla, congri, tropical fruit salad, Hawaiian salad, Hawaiian sweet bread and corn on the cob. The event was catered by Mojito, a Seattle caterer. Public Health Seattle King County (PHSKC) received Salmonella case reports on 7/11, 7/12, and 7/15 (two reports). The common exposure among all four confirmed case patients was attending the Luau and consuming pork. The pork was supplied by Kapowsin Meats, Inc. a Graham, Washington establishment. A total of 15 outbreak associated cases were identified. Nine were laboratory confirmed. the outbreak was assigned identification number 1607WAJPX-1. In 2015 Kapowsin pork was linked to a large outbreak of Salmonella I 4,[5], 12:i:-. On July 21, 2016 Kapowsin Meats recalled approximately 11,658 pounds of pork products due to possible contamination with Salmonella I 4, [5], 12:1:-.
