2016 Multistate Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 linked to Adams Farm Beef Products

The CDC, multiple states and the USDA FSIS investigated an outbreak of E. coli O157 linked to consumption of beef products produced by Adams Farm Slaughterhouse in Athol, Massachusetts. Eleven ill people with the outbreak strain were reported by 5 states. Illness onset dates ranged from June 27, 2016 to September 10, 2016. Seven people were hospitalized. One person developed hemolytic uremic syndrome. There were no deaths. The outbreak was assigned CDC Cluster/Outbreak code 1609MLEXH-1.
