2016 Outbreak of Norovirus Associated with the Midwest Shabbaton, Lawrence, Kansas
In February 2016 twenty one individuals who attended the Midwest Shabbaton events in Lawrence, Kansas became ill with norovirus. The Chabad on Campus hosted the event from February 26-28, 2016. Groups from Kansas, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Indiana, Nebraska, and Wisconsin attended. Epidemiologic and clinical data collected were insufficient to determine if a food or drink item was the source of illness, or if illness was spread person-to-person. Three stool specimens were positive for norovirus.
