2017 Outbreak of Norovirus, La Hacienda, Renton, Washington
In April 2017 Public Health Seattle King County investigated an outbreak of gastroenteritis among customers of La HAcienda located in Renton, Washington. Five people from one dinner party became ill after eating food at the restaurant on April 21, 2017. There was no laboratory confirmation but symptoms were consistent with norovirus. Environmental health investigators visited the restaurant on April 27. During the field inspection they identified improper food handling practices known to contribute to the spread of norovirus. To allow time for thorough cleaning and disinfecting, the restaurant closed on April 27. The restaurant reopened on April 28.
