2018 Outbreak of Bacterial Toxin at Lahori Kabab-n-Grill, Kent, Washington
On June 15, 2018, Public Health Seattle King County (PHSKC) announced that staff were investigating an outbreak of gastroenteritis with nausea, cramping and diarrhea associated with Lahori Kabab-n-Grill located in Kent, Washington. Seventeen people from a single meal party became ill after consuming food served buffet style at the restaurant on June 10 Symptoms and timing of their illness onset suggested infection with a bacterial toxin such as Bacillus cereus or Clostridium perfringens. No tests were done to confirm which pathogen caused illnesses. PHSKC environmental health investigators visited the restaurant on June 12. Investigators found that the restaurant's facilities were not adequate for buffet or catering services.
