2019 Multistate Outbreak of Salmonella Infantis Infections Linked to Del Monte Vegetable Trays Sold at Kwik Trip

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, Minnesota Department of Health and Wisconsin local health departments working with federal FDA and CDC partners investigated an outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to consumption of Del Monte vegetable trays purchased at Kwik Trip. As of July 12, 2019 five outbreak associated cases had been identified. Illness onset dates ranged from April 13 to May 15, 2019. No one was hospitalized and no one died. The Del Monte vegetable trays associated with the investigation contain broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and dill dip. The FDA inspected the Del Monte facility that produced vegetable trays that the Wisconsin Department of Health Services linked to the outbreak. The facility was located in Kankakee, Illinois. The FDA also investigated distribution and supplier information for the produce used in the trays. These investigation activities did not identify a single source or potential point of contamination for this outbreak.
