2019 Outbreak of Salmonella Infantis Linked to Supermercado Rivera, Illinois
In March 2019 public health officials in Illinois investigated and outbreak of Salmonella Infantis linked to food purchased at Supermercado Rivera located at 4334 West 51st Street in Chicago. In total there were 29 confirmed cases and 56 probable cases. Exposures ranged from February 16, 2019 to February 24, 2019. Fourteen people were hospitalized. No one died. The outbreak was attributed to consumption of contaminated carnitas.
