Cryptosporidiosis in Central Idaho, July/August 2012

Nineteen cases of cryptosporidiosis were reported to the Idaho Central District Health Department in late July/early August 2012. During a normal year, the District investigates 10 cases per year. Cases were reported in residents of Boise and Meridian but the disease appeared to be widespread in the community. Area swimming pool operators were advised of the outbreak and many responded by hyper-chlorinating the pools to kill the parasite.
