Hartmann Dairy Farm a.k.a. Minnesota Organic Milk a.k.a. M.O.M.' s Raw Milk 2010
In May, raw milk purchased from the Hartmann Dairy Farm was linked to an outbreak of eight cases of E. coli O157:H7. The specific strain of E. coli O157:H7 that was found in the case-patients was found in multiple animals and at multiple locations on the Hartmann farm. The farm was ordered to stop selling milk. On October 28, Minnesota state officials announced additional illnesses linked to the milk. This time Campylobacter jejuni(3 cases) and Cryptosporidium parvum(4 cases) were the illness causing organisms. Laboratory tests again matched strains of these organisms with those that had been isolated from this farm over the summer. It was not clear how these newest cases accessed the milk as milk sales remained prohibited.
