IHOP Restaurant Syrup 2008

In September, an Amarillo, Texas, IHOP Restaurant was shut down for a third time in three months due to repeated outbreaks of Salmonella, involving at least 90 restaurant patrons. In the June outbreak eleven workers were found to be infected with Salmonella Group C. It was likely that the infected employees contributed to the ongoing contamination at the restaurant. Warm water baths were used to warm syrup. The baths became contaminated with Salmonella and contaminated the syrup.
