Japan Foods Forus Company Restaurants Yukhoe 2011
Yukhoe served at restaurants run by Foods Forus Company, in Japan, was linked to an outbreak of E. coli O111 and O157. As of May 8, it was not publicly known whether the E. coli O157 was the H7 type. Over 70 people were reported ill. The dead included two children and two adults. Yukhoe is made from raw ground beef seasoned with various spices or sauces. It is basically a Korean steak tartare. The company admitted that it had failed to carry out inspections of its wholesale meat supplier for the previous two years.
