New Food Classics Beef 2011

Frozen beef products were linked to at least one case of E. coli O157:H7 in Canada, in October, 2011. The original recall on February 18, 2012, applied to several batches of Country Morning Beef Burgers that were distributed by the COOP and TGP grocery stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwest Territories. The beef was produced by New Food Classics of Burlington, Ontario, Canada. Subsequently the burgers were also recalled from Ontario, Yukon Territories, and Nunavut. A batch of Club Pack Steakettes were subsequently recalled. The initial recall was expanded eight times after the initial announcement. Consumers, retailers, and restaurants were advised not to use any ground beef produced by Establishment 761 between July 1, 2011, and February 15, 2012. The company went into receivership on February 22, 2012. On March 24, the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service(FSIS) issued a public health alert because some of the implicated ground beef patties had been imported into the United States.
