Philly-Gourmet Meat Company Hamburger Patties 2005

A cluster of three E. coli O157:H7 cases in Saratoga County, New York, prompted an investigation by the local health department. The health department officials gathered food histories from the three cases and discovered that all three had eaten a hamburger in the week prior to symptom onset. The New York State Laboratory tested the hamburger patties and stool samples from the cases. They found the E. coli O157:H7 strains to be genetic matches. The hamburger patties were produced by the Philly-Gourmet Meat Company and were recalled due to the contamination.
