Raw Ground Beef 1994
Consumption of raw ground beef was suspected as the source of a tartrate negative, Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak in Wisconsin during the Christmas holiday. Consumption of raw ground beef during the holidays was a eating practice brought from Europe. The auger housing for the grinder in the butcher shop had not been cleaned thoroughly; this likely led to ongoing contamination of the beef as it was ground.
