Salmonella Heidelberg Outbreak Among Film Festival Event, Los Angeles, 2011
In September 2011 Department of Public Health Los Angeles County investigated an outbreak of Salmonella Heidelberg among attendees at a film festival event held at a media center in Beverly Hills. Tres LA, a Los Angeles catering company, served a catered box lunch to the 175 people in attendance at the event held on September 20. In total 8 persons were ill. Four of the 8 were laboratory confirmed with the PFGE pattern (JF6X01.0045). Seven of the four recalled eating the turkey sandwich included in the box lunch. However, no specific food item could be identified by epidmeiologic analysis as the source and no other complaints were received among attendees at other events catered by Tres LA.
