San Antonio Taco Company Restaurant 2000
Over 200 people became ill with Salmonella Newport after eating food from the San Antonio Taco Company Restaurant located in Nashville, Tennessee. Cutting boards that had been used to slice cooked meat sat on a table that held pans of raw meat. Cases of avocados were stored under pans of raw meat that had leaked down to the avocados. At least two food handlers were found to be infected with the same strain of Salmonella as the restaurant patrons. Leftover salsa was found to be contaminated with Salmonella.
