Texas University Campuses Tossed Salads 1983

Two, concurrent outbreaks of Shigella sonnei occurred on university campuses in Texas. Both universities purchased lettuce from the same distributor. The distributor obtained the lettuce from three states. The farm source was never determined and Shigella was never isolated from the lettuce.
