Wedding Reception Chicken and Pork 2010
An outbreak of Salmonella Anatum occurred among persons who attended a wedding reception in Sumter County, Florida. The same strain of Salmonella Anatum was isolated from samples of chicken and pork that were served at the event. The chicken and pork had been grilled together. Eating pork and baked beans were risk factors for illness; eating chicken was not. Attendees reported that the chicken was served undercooked; pork was preferred. Cross contamination between the chicken and pork seemed likely.
